What is the difference between Major Construction and Special Projects Division?
Major Construction will handle any sized project at any location in Virginia, North Carolina and West Virginia. We have handled small scaled jobs and are capable of large scale projects of more than $25 million.
Special Projects is a full construction division but they stay within driving distance of Southern Air’s headquarters located in Lynchburg, Virginia. Typically, the Special Projects scope of work remains inside of 80 miles of Lynchburg and under $2 million worth of work.
As a full service mechanical and electrical contractor, what is your overall scope of work?
Major construction will design and build the mechanical and electrical comfort systems for anything from large residences, hospitals, data server rooms, sports arenas and academic facilities and dormitories.
The types of systems our construction teams install include hydronic, which encompass boilers, chillers, and cooling towers. Our duct work systems comprise of HVAC comfort systems, grease duct and specialized industrial exhaust. We put in full plumbing systems from domestic, sanitary, storm, medical gas, natural or propane gas piping.
Southern Air has a full commissioning department capable of installing everything from refrigerant lines to fully commissioning boiler and chiller plants. We have endless experience working in tandem with third party commissioning agents.
Our Electrical Department boasts capabilities ranging from the installation of 400 amp service to 10,000 amp service. We can build in closed circuit television (CCTV), Digital antenna system (DAS), access controls such as security doors and maglock key doors, full communications systems, security systems, building grounding loops and work with lighting control subcontractors like Lutron and MUSCO.
